Cembrit - good to know

Transportation of products

Transportation by train

Where possible, Cembrit always use train transport rather than trucks, which is a far more environmentally friendly solution. The cement is delivered from local manufacturers and shipped directly to the factories, which have rails tracks all the way to the factory site. Train transport is thus used both for deliveries of raw materials and the shipment of finished products.

Transportation by sea

Cembrit always strive to use shipping freight whenever possible, which is one of the most environmentally friendly forms of heavy goods transport. If you compare, for example, trucks and container ships, trucks emit more than 12 times the amount of CO2 per tonne than container ships. Although for obvious reasons, it is not possible to use shipping freight for all our transport needs, these figures show that it is clearly a mode of transport that is worth striving for.

Smart Storage locations

Cembrit has built strategic warehouses around the country to save on miles and minimize CO2 emissions. In addition, most of Cembrit's corrugated sheets are shipped directly from production to our customers, which also saves us a round of storage, labour, trucks and extra transport.

Disposal / Landfill

When Fibre cement product comes to their end-of-life, it must be handled according the local regulations.
